Allegro is an early ripening variety from Fresh Forward and ripens similarly to Clery. This selection convinces with big and firm fruits, which are light red and very evenly conically shaped with a high percentage of first-class fruits. The yield is even much higher than the one of Clery. The juicy fruits have a high percentage of sugar, so the flavor is very good.
\nAllegro is a rather strong plant. It is not very sensitive to root illnesses like Phytophtora cactorum or Verticillum. The health of the leaves is also very good and there is a low chance for mildew.
\nThere are almost no problems with Botrytis at the fruits. Allegro is growing strong, which is especially interesting for reproduction sites. When growing in a tunnel or on maiden grounds, the growth can turn out to be too strong. Here you have to pay attention to a low fertilization with nitrogen.
\nIt is suggested that you plant the plants far apart because the picking yield will drop if the plants have been planted too close together.
\nAnother important feature for an early ripening variety is the length of the inflorescence. Allegro blossoms underneath the leaves or in leaves-height. Because of that the blossoms are protected against late frost. If the plant grows too strong, bending of the long inflorescence can turn into a problem. Allegro can be turned into an even earlier variety if cultivated with foil or fleece.
